Taramasalata
Panayiota MichaelIngredients
- 200 g Raw tarama (fish roe)
- 0.5 loaf White bread (sliced)
- 0.5 cup Lemon juice
- 600 ml Sunflower oil
- 0.5 whole Onion
- 1 tbsp Salt
- 0.5 cup Water
Method
- 1
Take half a loaf of white bread and soak in water. Take each slice out of the water and lay on a tray to dry overnight. This will harden the bread for the next day. (Alternatively, use an old loaf that has gone stale and hard naturally.)
- 2
Break all the bread into a blender so that you can grind it up into crumbs. You do not need to remove the crusts.
- 3
In a large mixer add the raw fish roe and half of the breadcrumbs.
- 4
Put the blender on the slowest speed and mix all together.
- 5
While mixing add a few more breadcrumbs.
- 6
Add half of the oil and mix all together.
- 7
Add half the lemon juice and the remaining oil and mix all together.
- 8
Add the chopped onion and mix all together.
- 9
Add half a cup of water and the remaining lemon juice and mix all together.
- 10
Add salt.
- 11
Put the mixer on full speed and mix for 5 minutes until the tarama is nice and creamy.
