Pilafi with chicken livers & green pepper

Ingredients

  • 200 g butter
  • 1 big onion (grated)
  • 1 green pepper (cut in small pieces)
  • 500 g chicken livers
  • Salt & pepper
  • Bachari (mixed spice)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tin peeled tomatoes
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 cups parboiled long grain rice
  • 4 cups water

Method

    Melt 100g butter, add onions and fry until onions are transparent.

    Add peppers and livers and leave to cook well.

  4. 3

    Add tomato and tomato paste, salt, pepper, sugar, lemon and mixed spice.

    Lower heat and simmer for 10 min.

    While the livers are simmering, in a large pot melt 100g butter and then add rice. Fry until slightly brown (2-3 min)

    Add liver mixture to the rice.

    Add about 7 cups of water lower hear and simmer until rice is cooked.
